Sound system problem---not sounding as clear as it used to?

My Bose sound system is not as clear-sounding as it used to be, especially when the Bass is full, the speakers sound very bad. What could be the problem?Sound system problem---not sounding as clear as it used to?
sounds like you've blown a speaker.... where the foam or rubber surround either has a rip in it or has become detached from the cone of the speaker.

You can try to fix it yourself by purchasing a surround repair kit, but I don't have any good or bad on the results you will get.

you are probably better off finding a replacement on eBay.Sound system problem---not sounding as clear as it used to?
There could be several problems resulting in distortion issues. In your case it seems one or two things can be happening: 1) your speakers may be drying out and not performing the way they were when new - being they are now damaged; or 2) somehow the system is over modulating meaning the there is more being asked of the system than the power can clearly amplify causing distortion, 'over modulation' , 'clipping'.

The best example is a water filter - don't take this literally. Over the filter gets clogged and water output diminishes (that is failing performance). Turn up the water pressure and you may get more flow but you also get the junk that has built up in the filter being flushed out coming out with the water being polluted water.

Your pre-amp or receiver is the filter.

Try another amp on your speakers and then try other speakers on the current amp. This way you'll know what the root cause is. If it is a speaker problem there is no way to fix it you'll need to replace them. If the problem is electronic today's electronics are fairly disposable depending on how old your system is. This means you have a choice of replacing the amp or paying the price of repair which may be costly for a clipping problem.

Your speakers are not handling the bass well meaning another thing I forgot to mention is if there is a crossover system it may be part of the cause. You can't test this unless you know how to tap into and bypass your cross over.

Oh, there is one other cause - you'll need to see a nose, eye and ear doctor for this but most likely for this particular problem it is not the case.

Best wishes!
many auto audio problems can be caused by a bad ground
possible blown speaker!

solution turn down bass and up treble!
i would say maybe one or more are blown too. being bose, it should be able to handle a lot, and sound good also. but if it's blown it wont sound good either way.
Dont max out the bass, it will blur out the clear sound
