My transistor radio sounds clear until I remove my hand from it, and then I hear a lot of static.?

What can I do to get rid of the static besides keeping my hand on it? Also are there certain type radios that pick up am and fm stations no matter where they're at?My transistor radio sounds clear until I remove my hand from it, and then I hear a lot of static.?
Your hand is acting like an antenna. If it has a retractable antenna, extend it. If not, hook up an external antenna (you can buy one at any electronics store.)My transistor radio sounds clear until I remove my hand from it, and then I hear a lot of static.?
Have you tried jumping on it ....that will cure the problem
