Clear sound on trumpet? (high notes)?

I've just started playing a trumpet for my school band and i can play high notes, but its just that i can't get a clear sound on it. My sound comes out to have some sort of crack in it. i want to say its my embouchure or the way i blow into it. Please help.Clear sound on trumpet? (high notes)?
i think what you mean is that it changes pitch.

the reason it does that is that you're not applying a constant air pressure from your lungs.

if you were to look at a bugle, it looks like a trumpet but has no valves at all.

the only way to get different notes is to vary how hard you blow.

try it, w/o using valves.

start, then blow a bit harder until you get a higher note.

you should hear do - me - so type notes.

you do need to practice your embouchure so it's consistent also.Clear sound on trumpet? (high notes)?
The cracking sound you hear when playing those high notes is due to blowing way too much air into the instrunment. One way to fix that problem is to upgrade your mouthpiece to something that is slightly deeper. This will allow the air to flow more freely and relieve any backpressure in the mouthpiece which leads to the air cavitating in the mouthpiece resulting in the cracking sound you hear.
