How do I reduce the static on my guitar amp and get the notes to sound more clear on distortion?

I have a Fender Stratocaster and a Line 6 Spider III 30W amp. Do I need better pickups? How much do they cost? A better amp? I don't know.How do I reduce the static on my guitar amp and get the notes to sound more clear on distortion?
It's honestly hard to say.

I think your equipment is fine. It's not real high end stuff, but should be sufficient enough to jam with some distortion.

I'd check your amp settings first. You might just have the levels jacked up too high. You don't want to exceed 75%-80% with any gain or volume knobs.

How is the cord. A short in the cord can lead to static in the amp. WOuld check that before messing around with pickups
one thing that most people overlook is ';dirty power.';

Try different outlets and in different rooms.

This was my problem
