I have a fender practice amp. I can barely put the volume up to 1 and this thing is on full blast. I think it might have an internal problem. When i turn it off it pops incredibly loud. It is a $400 amp I got for only $50 so I didn't really expect much. Anyone have any ideas? Is there anything I can do to clear the sound up on my guitar amp?
If it is a guitar amp, most has knob volume. The potentiometer(the one inside that you twist through a knob) needs to be replaced. Its action is to gradually supply voltage towards the main amp. stage so you can hear an increase in loudness in the output. If its dirty, or shorted due to conductor dirts then the full power from the pre-amp will pass through it thats why you'll hear it loud even just min turn of the volume knob. My temporary solution, is to flush The potentiometer with lighter fluid to remove the molds and dust. Lighter fluid will not short circuit those components because it will dry up in seconds. But I won't recommend. The volume potentiometer(or volume control) have to be replaced. Is there anything I can do to clear the sound up on my guitar amp?
take it to a shop besause my amp did the same thing, and still does. but i just got use to it and kept messing with the volumes till i liked the sound
