I just got a gibson les paul for christmas and i have a fender 25R frontman series II amp what can i set all the knobs to on my guitar and my amp to get a not too heavy not to clear distortion? How can i get my amp to have good not too heavy and not too clear sound?
Set the gain at around 3 or 4, with the treble at 7, middle at 6 and bass at 7 or 8. It ought to give you a quite heavy noise. If you want something like an Iron Maiden-y type sound, then have the middle at 3, bass at 5 and treble at 5 - not quite sure what sound you actually want :SHow can i get my amp to have good not too heavy and not too clear sound?
I don't have one in front of me, so the name on the knob mat be different
but you control the amount of distortion, by how far the Gain control is set, (higher the setting = more distortion)
then you use the Master volume to control the volume.
your distortion also depends on how hard you play
a soft player has to turn the gain up a lot higher, to compensate for a soft touch, which makes it very hard for us to tell you an exact #
I really ';attack'; the guitar, so I barely have to turn the gain up.
Another player using my settings, usually gets a completely different sound.
Your distortion also varies, by how loud the guitar is, your string gauge, (heavier strings = more signal, more distortion)
how strong the pickups are (humbuck vs single coil, alnico magnets etc)
Where your volume control on the guitar is set,
(turn it all the way to 10 on the guitar, to get the most distortion)
