GUITAR QUESTION: I just can't seem to get a clear sound barring across the 1st fret! What can I do for that?

I've been playing guitar for a couple years.... I don't think my problem is finger position because other bar chords come out clear. It's just getting the ';F'; to come out. I don't what else I can do to put more pressure on the strings. It's really getting frustrating... =(GUITAR QUESTION: I just can't seem to get a clear sound barring across the 1st fret! If your other barre chords come out clear, then I think you need to adjust the nut on the guitar. (The nut is that slotted plastic or bone piece that the strings run over at the top of the neck.) What is happening is the strings are too high at the nut, making it harder to depress them on the first fret. Think of the nut as zero fret. The strings shouldn't be any higher coming off the nut than they would be if there was a fret there. If this is the case, you can *carefully* file the slots yourself, or better yet bring it to a luthier.GUITAR QUESTION: I just can't seem to get a clear sound barring across the 1st fret! the f takes a while to get down. try bariing ur finger sideway a little bit and barring a little father (3 frets across) use light strings or adjust ur action. and it's usually not pressure but if u think it is, use ur thumb to press the back of the neck to get a better grip
