Dvd is connected to the tv. The image is clear, but I have no sound?

I've tried connecting the VCR to the TV and the image and sound are fine. What am I doing wrong?Dvd is connected to the tv. The image is clear, but I have no sound?
What connections are you using for your DVD player?

There should be at least two connections from your DVD player to your TV, one for video and the other one for audio. If these two are fine, you might want to check out the back of your DVD player for a switch for sound ; analog or digital and make sure it is set for which one you are using. Also check your set up menu for your DVD player for audio, and make sure it defaults to the proper setting for sound analog or digital. Hope this helps.Dvd is connected to the tv. It's not clear what outputs you are using when you are hooking up from the DVD. DVI, HDMI, component, S-video or composite. When you get a good picture pull out the audio plugs (red and white RCA plugs) from the DVD, turn up the volume a bit on the TV and touch the center connector of the red and white plugs. You should hear a buzz from the speakers if the TV is setup correctly. Don't worry you will not be hurt. If you are selecting the right input on the TV then check your DVD menu for proper audio output mode are proper output jacks.

what kind of cables are you using?

if you are using AV cables (red white and yellow) try another set of AV cables, if still no sound. there is something wrong with your DVD player's A/V output port.

i predict that you just bought composite cables (red, blue, and green) or HDMI cables, and have just wired it up but cant figure it out why there is no sound. well that is because these type of cables dont transmit sound. the up-market cables that are supposed to improve picture quality. they do do that, but thats all they do. you need to have your composite or HDMI plugged in AS WELL AS, the red and white audio cables.
check they connection to the audio or maybe there is a short in the red and white cords try a different cord
